When members of the Texas Office of Acquired Brain Injury (OABI) team visited with local leaders in Northeast Texas this past summer they were impressed with the interest and commitment to addressing brain injury, a critical public health issue, at the local level. OABI then partnered with University of Texas Health Science Center of Tyler, the Center for Rural Community Health, The Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council (RAC-G), Department of State Health Services Region 4/5 (DSHS), and others to create the Northeast Texas Brain Injury Coalition (NETBIC).
NETBIC has two major goals:
1) to educate local health care providers and other related professionals about brain injury, and
2) to provide the best possible care for brain injury survivors and their families in the community.
